#1. God is a covenant-making God
My covenant was with him.
Malachi 2:4, 5
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and
between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head and you will strike
his heel. Genesis
2:15
I will establish my covenant with you. Genesis 9:8, 9, 12
I may make my covenant between me and you. Genesis
17:1, 2
If we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He
cannot disown Himself. 2
Timothy 2:13
Have we not all one father? Did not one God create us? Then why do we profane the covenant of our
ancestors by breaking faith with one another? Malachi
2:10
#2. God expects us to be covenant-keeping
people
Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with
tears. You weep and wail because He no
longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your
hands. You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is acting as the
witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith
with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.” Malachi
2:13, 14
So guard yourself in your
spirit, and do not break faith. Malachi 2:16b
