 “Don’t Be Judge-Mental”

Lead Pastor, Stephen Macaluso

“Stop judging others, and you will not be judged.  For others will treat you as you treat them.  Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged.  And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?  How can you think of saying, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?  Hypocrite!  First get rid of  the log from your own eye. Then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”  Matthew 7:1-5 (NLT)

*        Hypocrisy: Seeing wrong in others and being unable or unwilling to admit my own faults.  (looking at the speck in another’s eye while ignoring the log in my own)

*        Integrity: Recognizing that the faults in others may be an indications of wrongs in my life. (removing the log from your eye)

*        Mercy: The alternative to judgment.  (after attending to my own shortcomings, caring for the speck in my brother's eye)

3 truths about judgment that will help to keep relationships healthy:

1. God

1. God will judge!

For I, the Son of mankind, shall come with My angels in the glory of My Father and judge each person according to his deeds.”

                                                Matthew 16:26

The day will surely come when at God’s command Jesus Christ will judge the secret lives of everyone, their inmost thoughts and motives; this is all part of God’s great plan, which I proclaim.

                                                Romans 2:16

2. Now is not the time for final judgment

If anyone hears Me and doesn’t obey Me, I am not his judge— for I have come to save the world and not to judge it.”       John 12:47

“But all who reject Me and My message will be judged at the Day of Judgment by the truths I have spoken.”        John 12:48

3. As you judge you will be judged

And remember that your heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites when He judges.  He will judge you with perfect justice for everything you do; so act in reverent fear of Him from now on until you get to heaven.     Matthew 16:26

And as we live with Christ, our love grows more perfect and complete so we will not be ashamed and embarrassed at the Day of Judgment, but can face Him with confidence and joy because He loves us and we love Him, too. 1 John 4:17
