“Living Pure Morally”

Lead Pastor, Stephen Macaluso

“You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God.  What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty?  But now we call the arrogant blessed.  Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.’”

Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard.  A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “They will be mine,” says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession.  I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him.”                                                                             Malachi 3:14-17

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers.  Not so the wicked!  They are like chaff that the wind blows away.  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.                                                Psalm 1

But as for me, I came so close to the edge of the cliff!  My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.  For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.  They seem to live such a painless life; their bodies are so healthy and strong.  They aren’t troubled like other people or plagued with problems like everyone else...Was it for nothing that I kept my heart pure and kept myself from doing wrong?

                                                            Psalm 73:2-5, 13(NLT)

The Big Leap Of Morality:

Until I entered the sanctuary of God.  Then I saw the whole picture: The slippery road you’ve put them on, with a final crash in a ditch of delusions.  In the blink of an eye, disaster!  A blind curve in the dark, and— nightmare!                                                                           Psalm 73:17-19 (Message)

“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace.  All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,’” says the Lord Almighty.  “Not a root or a branch will be left to them.”

                                                Malachi 4:1

We wake up and rub our eyes...Nothing.  There’s nothing to them.  And there never was.                                                     Psalm 73:20 (Message)

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.  And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.”         Malachi 4:2
